What steps should I follow when using my Oscarware® Porcelain Grill Topper?
- Wash your grill topper before using it for the first time.
- Brush your grill topper with a high heat cooking oil before each use.
- Preheat your grill, not your grill topper.
- Place food on your grill topper THEN place grill topper on grill after the grill has preheated. This allows both the food and the grill topper to heat at the same time. Placing chilled food on a HOT grill topper most often causes food to stick.
- Use appropriate, heat-resistant hand protection when handling a hot grill topper.
- Remove from your grill when food is done.
- Use trivets, etc. when placing a HOT grill topper on outdoor/indoor surfaces that are not resistant to heat.
- Allow your grill topper to cool down completely before washing.

- Using your grill topper before washing it & reading all instructions.

Is porcelain coating safer than non-stick coating?
Our signature porcelain coating does not contain harmful chemicals like PTFE and PFOA found in non-stick coatings. Oscarware’s porcelain coating can be used at grill temperatures up to 1,000oF while non-stick coatings can break down at high grill temperatures and when exposed to flames. In addition, our porcelain is so durable it can withstand sharp metal utensils. Non-stick coatings are easily damaged by such utensils.
What is the best way to clean my Oscarware® Porcelain Grill Topper?
A great feature of our porcelain toppers is that they are dishwasher safe, saving you precious time and energy. After you use your grill topper and allow it to cool to room temperature, you can simply give it a good rinse in the sink then pop it in your dishwasher.
What high heat cooking oils should I use to prep my Oscarware® Porcelain Grill Topper prior to grilling?
Every oil has a smoke point which is the temperature that an oil begins to smoke in your pan or topper and have an unpleasant smell. It is good idea to familiarize yourself with what oils have a higher smoke point and are more appropriate for high heat grilling temperatures to avoid disappointment. Can I use my Oscarware® Porcelain Grill Topper in the oven?
Your grill topper is designed to withstand grill temperatures up to 1,000oF so it is safe to use it in your oven. However, if you are cooking with any type of food that could drip through the perforations in your grill topper, we suggest placing a solid pan or oven liner underneath to catch the drippings.
