Peggy’s Tasty Hot Dog Chili in 7 Steps

This Hot Dog Chili is a tradition at Peggy Chapman’s Derby party in Louisville each year with the Oscarware^® Disposable Hot Dog Grill Topper. It’s so good that you can’t just have one chili dog. She makes it a day ahead and then warms it up on low heat in the crock pot before her party. All that’s left to do is to grill the hot dog franks. It can be served with a variety of toppings like shredded cheese, onions, relish, or jalapenos!

Instructions for Hot Dog Chili

1. Slowly cook ground beef over low heat on stove. Add a little water to keep it from browning too fast and keep it from developing into larger pieces. Use a fork to break apart the beef into smaller, finer pieces.
2. Before the ground beef browns completely, add the onion, chili powder, tomato paste, salt, and pepper and keep stirring until combined. Add a little more water and simmer on low. Taste and add more salt or pepper if needed.
3. Preheat grill to medium heat.
4. Place hot dog franks on Oscarware^® Disposable Hot Dog Grill Topper then place topper on grill.
5. Grill hot dogs 5-7 minutes turning halfway.
6. Remove Hot Dog Grill Topper from grill and place on a heat resistant surface.
7. Prep your dogs and dress them to your liking!
