Instructions for Grilled Glazed Ham
- Submerge the ham in water in a large pot, allowing it to gently simmer for an hour on the stove. This initial step ensures that the ham remains moist throughout the grilling process.
- While the ham simmers, preheat your grill to medium heat and generously grease your grill topper.
- Once the hour is up, carefully remove the ham from the pot and gently towel dry it. Butterfly the ham vertically and place on your well greased Oscarware® 16”x12” Porcelain Coated Grill Topper (Note: If you are grilled a ham larger than 4 lbs, it is recommended to use the Oscarware® Porcelain Coated XL Roast and Rib Rack).
- Place the grill topper on the grill and allow the ham to grill for 45 minutes.
- It’s time to prepare the delectable glaze that will take it to the next level of flavor. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, molasses, hard cider, cinnamon, and nutmeg, allowing the mixture to simmer until the liquid has reduced by half.
- During the last 15 minutes of grilling time, generously brush the ham with the prepared glaze, ensuring that it’s evenly coated with every application. This step adds a caramelized crust, sealing in the ham’s juices and enhancing its overall flavor profile. Repeat this step at least three times.
- Once the grilling process is complete, carefully remove the grill topper from the grill and place it on a heat resistant surface. Apply a final layer of the glaze to the ham.
- Allow the ham to slightly cool and slice to serve.
